My New Rug and Rug Tips for You

*This is not a sponsored post, just sharing the goods with you!

Good morning my lovely readers.   Last week I posted this picture on Facebook.  RugsUSA was having a 70% sale that I was waiting for!

200CFVL06AYesterday, I gave you a little sneak peek of it.  (It shipped super fast!)SONY DSCAnd today I get to show you all of the pretty thing! It has given our room a new feel my friends, my whole family loves it. SONY DSC

SONY DSC So here’s the scoop.  Our other rug (which we had for about 18 months) was hand looped, 100% wool, and had a bigger pile (thickness). rug(1)

The hand looped threads and thicker pile did not do well in our high traffic area but I can’t wait to use it later in our bedroom at a future house with hard wood floors (in the military world, that is usually sooner rather than later).  Our new rug has synthetic fibers, flat weave, and machine-made so it’s durability will be much better with two kids, a dog, and it being placed in our main room.   SONY DSC

The darker gray color will hide dirt easily and is neutral color will allow me to change the colors/patterns of my accessories whenever I want.  It does happen weekly my friends, it’s what I do!

If you are in the market for a rug, you can find useful information on types, sizes, and placement (including buying resources) here. rugs-Collage

    1. Thanks Meredith! I’ve been seeing more expensive ones from other store so I super excited when RugsUSA got on the trendtrain. lol They have a fabulous selection right now of trellis, ikat, and chevron rugs

    1. LOL, I know! If I get on their site, I am for sure buying something. Waiting 18 months for a new rug was a record for me. 😉

  1. The rug looks wonderful. I love the white in it, brings together your other whites so well. such a warm and inviting room with the beautiful piano.

    1. Thank you mama! I love the way it turned out too! It does look great with all of the gray and whites in the room. Don’t notice the yucky yellow walls so much… 😉

  2. I just bought a new cream comforter that I love. My husband hates it. Go figure. I want to accent with teal. I’m on the hunt for good quality teal sheets.

  3. Wow what excellent rugs you have!! I love the one you have in the living room! I just got some new boots from Woot.com and I can’t stop wearing them 🙂 Thank you for sharing Kathy!

    1. I love new shoes!!! I just got some pink leather ballet flats (for free with a credit!) that actually fit my narrow feet. I’ll have to check out Woot. 😉 Thanks for the sweet comment Nancy!

  4. WOW! that is a huge rug . I also got a rug at 70% off over President’s Day from Rugs USA. Mine has the same exact pattern as yours but is smaller and in green, although I must say that the I am not happy with the green as I wished that it was deeper/ stronger green. I love the pattern though.
    What size rug is yours?

    1. Great minds think alike! I got the 9 1/2 by 12 1/2. The biggest rug I have ever purchased. 😉 I love the material, the gray looks purple in low light but gray during the day. Does your green change with different lighting?

  5. This rug looks fantastic! I know you said it looks a bit purple in low light, but in the pictures it also looks like it may have a slight tan tint. Does it ever look like that in person? My living room decor is mostly teal, cream/white, and tan with silver accents, but my furniture is dark brown. I was hoping I could somehow make this grey rug work.
