Howdy! Did you know March is craft month? It is and today I am participating with a few other crafters in Crafting in the Rain’s Craft Month A-Z. I was a little late in signing up and snagged the very last letter, Z. lol I thought about zebra patterns, flowers that start with z (Zinnia), and finally came around to zig zags. Whew! Zig zags are perfect. When I went thrifting with my mom a few weeks ago I found a wooden tray for $4 and knew that would be the object of my “zig zagging” affection.

Zig Zag Tray with Gold Flecks
Tray (sand paper)
Gold Sharpie (optional)
Sand the tray and wipe clean. Use painter’s tape to create a zig zag pattern on your tray. (I had wide painter’s tape so I cut it into thinner strips)
Spray paint and let dry for at least 30 minutes before removing painter’s tape.
Step 3: (optional)
Paint the underside and sides a contrasting color. I used gold spray paint!
Step 4: (optional)
Use a gold sharpie marker to create gold flecks in the tray. I decided to do this because my tray had a lot of dings in it so I filled them in with the gold sharpie.
To protect your beautiful zig zags, use a coat of polyurethane or let the paint cure (don’t touch it) for a week.
I am re-styling my bookcase this week and will probably use this tray on it!
Here are the links from the last three weeks if you would like to see them.
Thanks so much for stopping by. If you haven’t seen Up to Date Interiors’ Ringing in Spring Home Tour, you can find it here.
