Last Days of Summer Home Tour

|

Hi there!  I know Fall is almost here but I wanted to share a home tour with you before I start changing things around for the next season.  This is the first summer in our new Okinawan rental and the first home tour in this home.  Welcome, come on in!

We’ve been in our house for 7 months now.  For the summer,  I’ve infused Mediterranean colors  and other fun elements.SONY DSC

I love adding in or switching art work for the season.  These built-in bookcases are a great place to display art, beach finds, and books. SONY DSC

Another summer DIY this year is this Japanese paper lantern covered in silk flowers and hung over a pot light.  You can find the tutorial HERESONY DSC

I love the punch of color but it’s definitely seasonal!  SONY DSC

After you come through the foyer there is the small open concept living area.  A little wall (with a few challenges) serves for my office area.  SONY DSCA  chalkboard sign is great for seasonal messages. (Sorry if I just got the song stuck in your head *giggle*.)

There’s nothing like an ocean palette and tropical plants to make a home feel like summer. SONY DSC

Even this Japanese obi on the piano looks like waves. Love it. SONY DSC

I shared our master bedroom makeover with you HERE with the same color palette.  This might be my current favorite room.   It really does feel like a retreat, which it should! SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC

I love these beautiful botanical prints I ordered years ago off of eBay for pennies.   One on each side of the bed helps balance the mismatched side tables. SONY DSC

This Chinese eterge was another great find on the island. SONY DSC

Okay, the last summery place I want to share is our upstairs bath.  Is that weird ending a home tour in the bathroom?   Really it’s just this little rustic bench, bath salts, and another tropical plant that makes it feel like a spa.  Perfect for relaxing after a long, HOT day.   You can find the entire bathroom reveal HERE.UpToDateInteriors-2-of-24-e1430215481463 UpToDateInteriors-3-of-24-e1430215505244

I would love to share our garden with you but it’s not so pretty after our last typhoon. 😉  So here is the beach behind our house instead. SONY DSC

I hope the rest of summer is enjoyable for all of you. Make sure to check out my summer page full of DIYs, decorating tips, and printables for the season.
