Simple Fall Tablescape

|

Hi friends.  Whew!  What a week we are having.   We have explored castles, beaches, shops, and of course eaten tons of food since my parents have come.  Then there was the typhoon.   I’m just exhausted!

Well, it’s time for another Create and Share!  Last month, 6 other bloggers and I created something using the same decor item.  You can read about it HERE.   This time we all created a Fall Table Setting with a DIY project.

Supplies:

Outdated or thrifted chargers that could use a makeover!

Chalkboard paint and brush

Painters Tape

How to:

Tape out two stripes crossing to save some of the original charger plate color.

Paint 2-3 light coats of chalkboard paint, letting them dry between coats.  (Remove the painters tape before the last coat completely dries to avoid pulling off paint.)

After 24 hrs, season the chalkboard paint by rubbing chalk onto the paint and wipe off with a damp paper towel.

I wanted the table setting to be casual and fun.  I started with a pretty bouquet of local flowers in warm yellows, orange, and purple.

I went through my scarves stash to find one in Fall colors.  After I folded it in half, I knotted the ends so they wouldn’t hang into the chairs.

The plate setting has the chalkboard chargers,  plain white Ikea plates, my no-sew napkins (you can find the tutorial HERE) and vintage lettuce plates.  Of course, nothing says Fall like a brass deer!  I also kept my blue seat cushions and goblets to tie in with the living room decor.

  1. I adore the simplicity of your table & also your color scheme. I see your awesome napkins made an appearance. I adore the way you painted the plates! I know I always ask you advice about stuff in Okinawa but I hope you don’t mind! Where on earth did you find the paint? I’ve mentioned before I failed when I bought the latex paint for my furniture because I couldn’t read the Japanese label. Thanks Kathy, you’re the best!
