Let’s Get Real

|

Hello friends!  Lately I’ve been really thinking about what the next stage is for Up to Date Interiors.  I’ve been concentrating on the what and why.  While I have labeled my blog as design, decor, and DIY  featuring handmade decor, decorating tips, and color and design inspiration almost three years ago, I have found myself having a real passion for people and families struggling with multiple moves, rental obstacles, and budget concerns.   I still share quite a bit of those original topics but I’ve been paying special attention to posts that really resonate with you and what makes me wake up and smile when I sit down at my computer to chat with you.  So today I’m sharing an updated- “let’s get real,” about me page.  Grab a cup of coffee and let’s do this!

ABOUT

kat-closeup-wallMy Passion

I have a special place in my heart for renters and families that move around often.  Being relocated every 2-4 years as a military family has taught me the importance of loving the space we live in and creating a haven for my family to enjoy after work, school, and especially long deployments.  I love sharing decorating tips, ways to overcome rental obstacles, and how to create an updated space you love no matter the resources, income, or time restrictions.

My Style

My favorite design tricks are mixing old with the new, splitting up sets, and repurposing what we already have.  My style is considered eclectic because of my love for travel, music and art, color, and interest in different eras, but I like to call it traditional with a modern twist.  My favorite way to showcase our curated collection is by using a background of neutrals
(camel tones, b&w, grays, and taupes) and telling stories with vignettes.   Plenty of layers and textures add more interest.   My secret weapon is usually spray paint!

    1. Thanks sweetheart! Sometimes I really enjoy all of the new adventures and having a new rental to decorate but other times I just want to settle down and really put our style and design into a permanent home. xoxo
