Hey there! It’s already time for another DIY for The Global Styler series. A monthly challenge for global inspired DIY, decor, and decorating tips. Since it’s getting closer to the end of summer, my friends and I decided to share back to school DIYs.
My daughter always has pencils and markers laying around in her room so I decided to make her a global pencil holder. Just like last month’s Moroccan inspired tray, this quick and easy DIY took about 5 minutes and $2. I picked up a tin pencil holder at the 100 yen store and a roll of Japanese ribbon tape with a traditional design in coral and gold.
an empty can or other container
pom pom trim
Spray paint your container with gold paint (or any left over paint that matches your tape!)
Attach the ribbon to the bottom half.
Hot glue trim (pom poms, tassels, ribbon…) above the decorative tape and that’s it! I used pom pom trim left over from her Serena and Lily inspired candy stripe bed cover. Can’t wait to show you the entire room!
I think it looks really cute with the shoji screens in my daughter’s room and the rest of her decor!
Hopefully, she’ll keep pencils and markers off the floor now.
